If dating a Gouster, the look was cardigan sweaters buttoned down the back and tight skirts, stockings and cha-cha boots, with pearl earrings and pearl necklaces.*
A glitzed up evening look would complement the Ivy League, conservative, continental-look of the gentleman. or the look of an old school gangster, mackman, or hustler.
GENTLEMEN:
Men may want to consider some similar elements (listed above) to appear well-groomed for himself and his fellow dance partner.

Attire:
The Ivy League look
imitated a college-man (J. Crew with just a touch of swagger). The style included a pair of straight-legged slacks,
a buttoned-down collar shirt with French cuffs and cufflinks, a V-neck wool
sweater; and tinted glasses. His dress up look might include a trending Brooks Brother suit for day, and a sharp dinner suit and bow-tie by night. The cologne was Aramis worn with the crew-cut!!
Sometimes the Gouster’s or old school gangster-style was
preferred. His dress-casual was loose-fitting
on the verge of baggy clothes. It might include a
pair of two-pleated front slacks, turned-down collar shirt, and wool sweater with
three buttons at the neck. The cologne of choice was Jade East and a natural or fro!
The dressed-look included zoot-suit styled, double-breasted suits with cuffed dress slacks with suspenders with knife-creased, front pleats, heavily starched, white shirts or matching suit colored, long-lapel dress shirts with wide ties, colored reptile-skin shoes or spit-shined, sharp-toed Stacy Adams shoes, and high-crown Stetson and Dobbs hats and a matching double-breasted London Fog trenchcoat or fur coat. **
